What to tweet?

1
3:12 AM

I had made my twitter account last year. Forgot the password and recovered the account this year. I don’t have followers but I follow some people. Actually they have no reason to follow me, I am no one and I don’t tweet that much too. I have two tweets that’s all. I don’t know what to tweet and why to tweet. And I am not familiar to twitter as I don’t use it much. I have opened a twitter account because it’s a trending social network at the present moment (after Facebook  I think). In the article of thimphutech.com, I read about the increasing popularity of twitter in Bhutan. So decided to keep my twitter account.
Sometimes i think of tweeting “i am going to school” when I am going to school and “feeling exhausted, just came back from school” when I arrive home. Tweeting this every weekdays. When I think about it, I laugh at myself and think about the reaction that people might give to it. I had a wild imagination about this being on the news, “the most repeated tweet by a person, (i am going to school) (feeling exhausted, just came back from school)”. The best scenario can be, getting a Guinness world record for this. But I think this will never happen as I am not tweeting. I think I should control my imagination and not let it loose. Sometimes my imagination can get the better of me.

So what about Facebook  As updating ones status is somewhat same as tweeting. Come to think of it, it’s somewhat the same in Facebook too. In Facebook I update my status with some quotation or some interesting things happening around me. In Facebook I have lots of friends that may be interested in what I upload about. Last time I uploaded about a football match. And I got a good response to it too. I spent most of my time in Facebook  But now most of my time is taken by my blog. And I think it is a good thing too, as I am doing something productive than chatting in Facebook  I want to see how much have I improved in English after opening this blog. As my exams are at my door steps, its time I prepare myself and study.
I am wide open to any suggestion from the readers. You can mail me here at my email address or comment on any of my article in my blog.my email address is deepantamnag2012@gmail.com.

Thanks all the readers and keep motivating me with your comments.

Festive Night

0
12:21 AM

This was the most boring Diwali night for me. The boring part starts with no one to go out to celebrate with and the fact that that the exam is so close. I was in my house all alone and watching television. I slept very early (this I never do this festive day). I miss the days when I and my friends go out that very night, singing and having fun. Miss the part where we all have fun. It was a very joyful occasion to remember, to recollect and laugh about it. I did not go last year and this was the same thing. And I am afraid that this would happen the following year too. With nothing to do, I sat beside the television selecting random channels and picking what I would like to watch. With some hours spend watching the television, I went to sleep. To my surprise I was sleeping earlier than my brother.

It was about 11:30 p.m., I was asleep like a dead person not able to hear anything. Suddenly my mother woke me up to give respect or homage (I don’t know how to describe this, so added this way) to the group in my door. With things done with, I went to my cozy and hot bed. Hoping that no one come up next time. At around 2:30 in the morning I song woke me up, I song that I would not like to hear early in the morning. My hope amplified in the backward direction. This time my mother answered the door. You may think it was not a good thing for me, but it wasn't. They were singing using a microphone so the sound did not allow me to sleep. The noise or song woke my brother too, I do not know about the neighbors but I am positive that they were not in their happy place. Finally the group went and I got my sleep.

I was awaken by the light even off by the tube light and I was not ready for another boring day in school. What I hope for again back fired me once more. It was a boring day with lots of students being absent because of the some ceremony (BHAI TICA) related to Diwali. But it was a blessing in disguise for me. I got to study. I could finish up my notes and revise some of the topics. With not many days to go for my exam, I wish all the students of Bhutan a very best of luck in their upcoming exam. Study well and don’t forget to have fun. Be responsible for your acts and happy winter vacation.

Polities to a new level

0
8:31 PM

As usual I was watching television, nothing unusual about that. I was just going through the channels, suddenly NDTV caught my attention. There was a talk about BJP`S apps on android market. Some other party was against it. It was a new tactic on polities, created by this 21stcentury world. A few days back I was watching CELL-GURU on NDTV, watching the phone reviews and the latest phone on the festival. A phone that was so shocking and interesting too. Narendra Modi (BJP)-themed SmartNamo phones, it wasn't an app it was a phone dedicated to a parties person. The phone has preloaded wallpapers, videos as well as apps related to Modi. It was launched by a Gujarat-based group. . Ammeet Desai, the spokesperson for Smart Namo was quoted by The Wall Street Journal saying that they got the idea for this phone from China itself, where several products like Mp3 players and smartphones are branded with their leaders' name.(extracted from TIMES OF INDIA)
Seeing this I can’t wait for the next election to happen. I want to see what the new parties have to offer to lead the people in their tracks. What strategies they might bring, it just fascinates me to the see the future of Bhutan as a democratic country. Let’s see what beholds for us in the future and what challenges will we come across. Being prepared is the best thing that one can do. As new to this type of system our country has a lot to learn and there are lots of examples to look at. In a way our country is lucky to be so young in this system as we can correct the mistakes that others have done. And follow the path, a right path that is already cleared for us. As the times change, people change and according to that the system has to change. With youths coming up with new ideas, let’s see how our country will develop.
Where hands are possessed with smart phones and eyes glued to real, life like games. Technology has changed everything. Perhaps a culture for humans where the gods are the technology.

An unexpected day

0
10:08 PM

As usual I was getting ready for the school. Nothing significant happened until I reached half way to school. From there I was asked to go and attain move for health walk. That was not expected. Just yesterday students were selected for this very event. Frankly speaking I was not interested in this, so I didn't register my name for the event. But today I ran for the event that was taking place in Bajo town. Arrived there and sneaked from behind, to get into the line. Many of the students were there who did not expect that they would be there like me. Many students from three different schools were present. Namely, Tencholing primary school, Wangdue lower secondary school and our school.

Surrounded by lots of posters about health and straight towards me, stood the prime minster and other important official. After the speech, there was handing over of donation by various agencies and Dzongkhags. The donations was for the Bhutan health trust fund. From there we started our walk. Walking and talking with friends. The weather wasn't too bad for the walk but when we reached near the bridge. I could smell the sweat in the atmosphere and young students pumped with adrenaline, started walking faster. From the back people started singing “wai wai move for health”. It was a great experience given by my fate. Our little walk ended, in the entrance towards to Nahi. We were send home after the walk. So I retraced my path towards home. That time all I needed was a cold bath and some food to regain the calories that I have lost.
Finally I reached home and I just had to update my Facebook status, so I did.

Royal Anniversary

0
10:44 PM

On October 13, 2011 a great event took place that will be remembered throughout the history of Bhutan. The marriage between two people took place, a bond that tied Bhutan with lots of love. A country that is already a paradise made even better with this everlasting marriage. On October 13, 2013 it is their 2nd anniversary. Surrounded by the well-wishers, to harm will ever cross their path. With lots of prayers, wishes concentrated to them, which makes them shine, keeping the darkness away from our country. This anniversary is a celebration of all the people in this country.  May the sound of “Happy 2nd anniversary “, echo through this beautiful landscape and continue to the abyss.  May ours wishes transform the immortal souls to mortal bond, which will last forever. Hearts filled with feeling that can’t be described. With such kings and queens, Bhutan truly is a paradise. A paradise with tranquil environment and wonderful people looked after by blessed kings and queens.
I can’t put my thoughts into words to describe how I feel. No words are there to describe them.

Making a study roster.

0
5:47 PM
These are some of the tips given by our school counselor. Hope these benefits to you all.
1.       First, divide the number of days (hours – leisure + classes). You have at hand to prepare for the forth coming exam
2.       You must keep in mind the number of subjects and chapters to be covered.
3.       Prioritize the subjects accordingly
i)                    Remember to allocate more number of study hours according to the vastness and difficulty in the subject.
ii)                   The number of hours assigned to a subject should be as per your difficulty and conveniences.
iii)                 Do not make a roster for a day having just one subject. Variety and change in the subject can also help to retain your concentration as well as interest.
iv)                 Between two successive subjects to be revised, at least keep about 15-20 minutes break. This will help you relax, compose and prepare your brain for the different subject.

4.       Schedule the subject according to the time and its appropriateness. Example: science and art subject which needs concentration and memorization should be revised in the morning, language during the day and particle subjects like mathematics during the evening or night.
5.       Ask your friend to make a similar timing so that you will be reminded and carry it out successfully.
6.       Design a reward or punishment for yourself. If you fail to follow the timetable, cancel your free time or sleep late or wake up early as punishment. If you have followed it timely go for a walk, speak with your friends as a reward.

7.       Always put easier or simple subjects or chapters before interest and motivate you.
It should be followed with out-most sincerity and dedication. If you follow it for a few days strictly, it will eventually become a habit and can be successful.

Early morning presentation

0
10:04 PM

Today professor Ghosh from Sikkim visited our school. He presented a presentation on career options after class twelve. Class eleven and twelve were present in the presentation. He informed us about the present job scenario and gave tips on making the right choices in future. He said that our career shouldn't be by chance, it should be by choice and we were to become job creator not job seekers. We learned about Hall’s career stage model. This included exploration stage, establishment stage, maintenance stage and decline stage.
When we get a job, we want respect in the society, money, fame, satisfaction, security, happiness and joy. But when something goes wrong in our decision making it may lead to lack of career success. This can take place when career is not matching with one’s interest/potential/personality.

Sometimes we select the career which doesn't match our interest, etcetera. The reasons can be from opportunity perceptions, parental influence, peer pressure and others. We should have a systematic approach, we should be clear about our objectives and it should be individualized. This can help in building a successful career.
In the presentation there was a quote from Michelangelo Buonarroti, The greater danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low, and achieving our mark.” which made us to aim higher.

Towards the end of the presentation, professor explained about the factors for choosing universities in India. The factors are reputation, cost, safety, faculty, distance and facilities.
In the end professor talked about ICFAI university. For more information about this university visit this website.             http://www.iusikkim.edu.in

First day in service.

0
7:15 PM

Today with the traditional khadar ceremony with an inspirational speech from the principal, kick started the day for the newly appointed captains. The captains for the year 2014. With a smiling face and the additional responsibilities of captains. The day wouldn't get any better than this.
The captains were distributed to different houses. With a new house and new house parent, it was difficult to accept the new house.  A new set of students to look after and a new agricultural garden. Not knowing what each bed holds and what to do with the students. The feeling of isolation from the others and asking advice from some of the members started. With a question of what to do in the new house hunted some the captains. Although some of the captains were vice captains, they were in a confusion. For some captains it was a first time leading the students. One of the captains said that he was feeling nerves as he is holding the position for the first time. The first day didn't go as planned for some of as.
For the school captains nothing much was changed. They were in their old houses but they had a more difficult job than the house captains. They had to monitor the evening prayer. Students reciting the prayer while they stand and seek out the unfaithful ones. It must have been an unusual feeling because all the time they would be sitting and reciting the prayer. But today they are standing and looking after the prayer.
When the mist of confusion is settled and where one can see the greener valley, the days for the captains will be easier.

DEMOCRACY IN MY SCHOOL

2
7:35 PM

This is my 4th year studying in Bajothang higher secondary school. There are some changes that I have observed. Most of the changes are minor. This is the major change that I have observed and is one of the best. There are some major changes in the school, like construction of WIFI Park on 2012.Since I started this blog this year, I wanted to share this to you all.
Captains are appointed mainly by teachers. Students too take part in the appointment of captains but it has little effect on the decision made by the teachers. This is all done in the starting of the school. With the introduction of Democracy club in the school this has changed. It i
s now done at the end of the year. The students get to vote for appointment of captains. The nominees for the captain-ship are selected by the teachers. The captains are for the eight houses and two school captains. There will be a boy and a girl captain for each of the houses and headed by two school captains. The nominees for the captain-ship are to deliver a short speech tomorrow (1/10/13).

There are vice captains for each house. They are mainly appointed to look after agriculture garden. The vice captains are appointed by the house parent. As of last year most of the captains are selected form the vice captains. Most of the nominees for the captain-ship are vice captains.

Not in my dreams that i thought that the voting would be like this.We had voting machines, polling officers and everything else. It was same as that of voting in a general election.
Tomorrow (2/10/13) the results will be declared and 18 students would be appointed. From them teachers would choose 2 school captains.

HELLO BROTHER…

0
6:19 PM

’Hello Brother’’ is a movie made in Japan (maybe Korea). This might be the best movie that I have watched after “Life Of Pie” and “The Children Of Huang Shi”. This time I couldn't hold back myself, not to write about this movie.
Don’t want to ruin the fun of watching the movie, by telling the story. Here is something that will make you, to watch the movie.
The story starts with Hanbyul not feeling well. The elder brother meets a boy (Wook), who is going through the same situation. He treats him as his own small brother. He meets with lots of children going through the same condition. As Jang Hani does something wrong and wants to avoid the punishment from his mother. Wook takes Jang Hani to his house. They go to the mountains where, according to Wook, Tarzan lives. They reach to a place and stops for searching him. As soon as they see him, they run away. Wook couldn’t keep up with Jang Hani and faints. The Tarzan gives him some water and he wakes up. He takes them to their parents, who were searching for them in the mountains. They all go back and something terrible happens. Someone dies and something happens to someone. The movie ends with this dialogue” Wook, Merry Christmas.” A very tragic story and that doesn't have a happy ending….
Characters in the movie:
Hanbyul (elder brother)
Jang Hani (younger brother)
Wook (nickname little jade Buddha)
And other minor characters such as father, mother, etc.
Executive Producer: LEE Eun
Producer: SHlM BoKyung
Director: LlM TaiHyung
This is based on real character SulHee (15) and ChangHee (12) has been living in Canada. SulHee had to get 4 operations and he is still under treatment.

what an idea sir gi...

Most of people in Bhutan have mobile phone. With the increasing connectivity in the country the number of mobile phones keeps rising. To be able to communicate through phone, we need sim cards. In our country we have two providers of these sim cards. B-mobile and Tashi cell.
People need to recharge their account. And the most common for the postpaid costumers are from recharge cards and through E-load, which is a recent one. The problem arises from the recharge cards thrown here and there, therefore littering the place.
I noticed that the companies who make them are wasting lots of paper and ink. The size of the card can be decreases without compromising the size of the front.
While recharging through a voucher card, the company send a message saying “save the environment by using E-Load” (these may not be the exact words in the message).
Instead of advising others they should think of changing the way they make voucher cards. With the less usage of paper, they are reducing their carbon footprint. There might not be a difference in just one card but as the card increases in its quantity the difference can be seen.
If the companies could think of reducing the size of the card, as both the companies have same size of voucher card. It could make a vast difference. I remember that one of the company giving some type of reward for collecting the cards. Recycling the card can help the environment.

Help ourselves from Earthquake.

0
5:46 PM

One of the most frightening and destructive phenomena of nature is a severe earthquake and its terrible effects. Earthquake is the major cause of many types of disaster such as flood, fire, landslide and etc. earthquake doesn't kill people, is the man made structures that kill us. If we build the building that could withstand an earthquake, this might prevent the loss of lives. If we educate people about the earthquake that could also save lives and remove panic among the people.
Bhutan is locates in one of the most seismically active zone in the world along the boundary between the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates. That’s why our country is prone to earthquake posing risk to the lives and livelihood of the inhabitants. It is important that we should be highly conscious and alert all the time to face any type of disasters. We might have to experience more such earthquake events and for that we need to be aware and always prepared.
On 21st September 2009, an earthquake

of 6.1 magnitude struck eastern Bhutan which destroyed a great deal of life and property. Many schools were damaged but we were lucky that students were on holiday of blessed rainy day.
A nationwide program took place in all the schools in Bhutan on 20th  September. The event ‘‘annual preparedness drill for schools’’ organized on 20th  September at 10:15 am by all schools of Bhutan carrying out earthquake preparedness drill. The main purpose of conducting mock drill on 20th  September was to commemorate the fourth anniversary of the 21st September 2009 earthquake which will help us be reminded of the past memories on disasters and to avoid us repeating mistakes.
Be mindful and alert as disaster may occur anytime. At hard times we should take care of ourselves and to whom we love.
Thanks to Leki Dorji and Chimi Uden of twelve science for helping me out in the compilation of this article. They are both from disaster club of our school and helping our school to be in the safer side of any disaster.
‘‘once you have been in an earthquake you know, even if you survive without any scratch, that like a stroke in the heart, it remains in the earth`s breast, horribly potential, always promising to return, to hit you again, with an even more devastating force.’’ Said by Salman Rushdie.

Neighborhood on steroids

0
12:56 PM
The place where I live is a clam, peaceful one. There is not much noise and hardly things happen. But today (17/09/13) something happened that I could not imagine in my widest dream. The place came to life as if the place as changed from a desert to a rain forest. It had an atmosphere of a party hall, music surrounding everybody. People having a great time and some people turned up for dancing. Mostly kid took part and they were having a great time too.
I was not there as the music was too loud for me. I watched the event from a distant. Viewing everyone was great although I could not watch it for a long time. The event stopped at around nine p.m., as everyone would be disturbed. Then the neighborhood turned to its normal state, clam and quite. The sounds of the insects are loud and clear, without the music taking its place.

I can’t believe that this is the same festival that took place last year although it takes every year. But last year something happened that shook everyone, literary. Last year there was an earthquake that shook most of the region in southern Asia. There was a terror in everyone’s face but today there is a smile on everyone’s face. I morn for the people who have lost their life in that earthquake.

A dream

7:48 AM
This is a story that I wanted to share to all of you out there. Read it and enjoying while reading it…
It was 8:00 in the morning.as usual I was late for my collage. Each time I reach at the school gate the bell rang. I was also warned multiple times, but living a life where you don’t have a mother around you, these things are sure to happen. I passed out from a higher secondary school and presently I am in Royal Thimphu Collage. Living a life out on your own is not easy as thought. But tomorrow I need not worry about these things at all. Tomorrow I am leaving for my home, back to Wangdi. Back to my loving and carrying mother.
It’s the day where I am leaving for home. It’s the happiest day of my life, after a yearlong of parting finally I am going to see my mother. I came through the Thimphu valley, enjoying the beautiful scenes of the mountain. I was very discern to utter my first word when I meet my mom.
Finally, I reached wangdi. As I went I bought a bouquet of flower for my mother who was anxiously waiting for me. As I climbed up to the stairs, each steps made me very excited. I knocked the door and there she was opening it. I instantly hugged her and gave the beautiful flowers which inevitably suited her. She had prepared me a delicious meal after which we sat down for a chat. As we talked I could feel the happiness flowing in her voice.
We talked whole day. There wasn’t any conclusion to our talk but the time had a conclusion. It was time for dinner. I, my mother and my sister sat in a circle and had a marvelous dinner. After having dinner it was time for bed. That night the moment I went to bed I fell asleep. I woke up, got dressed and I stood in front of a river which was nearby, with the sun shining high and winds blowing with its growling sound. And suddenly I heard a crying call. I turned back. And again there was another call and it was from my house. I ran towards it as fast as I could.as each step I covered, the crying call got louder and so didi the slamming of the door.
I opened the door and there I saw my mother. I stepped in and approached and the cold heart.my poor mother was shrouded in her bed. I called out the name of my sister but there was no answer. I ran to my neighbors for help, but to my surprise I could see empty houses. Out of desperation I cried for help, but my cries were heard by growling winds and slamming doors. With only few hours of breath left I rushed my mother to the nearest hospital. All of a sudden I felt like killing myself. But I moved on, not giving up I reached to BHU. All my efforts went in vain when I found on one at the BHU. A mixed feeling of anger, sadness and insanity had occurred. I could not utter a word not cry out loud. I was looking at her dying face and holding those cold hands, I could not imagine that I am going to lose a very precious gem of my life.
Slowly she closed her eyes. I saw the light of her face fading away. Her breath had almost stopped. I knew she is going to go far away from me.so I said my last words to her “I LOVE YOU MOM’’. With a smile on her face she slowly closed her eyes and gave up her life on my arms. With tears all over my face I hugged her for the last time.
As I walk away I could feel the presence of her. I heard something, a call from my mother, I looked back, and to my surprise the corpse was gone. But the voice was still there. As I listened to it, I heard “WAKE UP, WAKE UP” than a gush of happiness flowed in every vein of my body. I could see a blurred image of my mom. When I opened my eyes wide I could see her. She was alive. It was me who was dead for 8 hours and was living a life which had never existed.

This is a story written by one of my friend Prakash. Thanks to him that I could share this to you all. This story came up accidentally. It was English class and our teacher asked us to write a story about anything, so my friend bought this to the class. We had a great time listening to him.

Democracy is necessary for GNH.

0
9:35 AM

We will need to evolve a system of governance that is responsive to its changing needs. We need a system in which all our needs, are considered, fulfilled and are looked after. For the place that is needed in order to sustain and nurture GNH, we, the people of Bhutan need democracy. It’s not only Bhutan but where ever there is GNH there should be democracy, which indicates that democracy is necessary for GNH.
A lone king can’t handle or look after each and every one. For everyone’s happiness depending on him and with that, there are other vital things that he has to cover alone. Although there is someone to look after each sector or division, but at the end he is the one making all the decision. In democracy what happens is the responsibilities of the nation's future development are distributed among ministries and other branches. This ensures there is a balance between spiritual and material development which will lead to the happiness of the people. Democracy also takes care of the four main pillars of GNH that is sustainable and equitable economic development, conservation of environment, preservation and promotion of culture and good governance by distributing to ten ministries.
With further more decentralization, each person’s point is considered and helps in the development of the country. With every person participating in the making of the country, the country is united and the value of GNH grows.
With democracy the management capacities are strengthened, which is able to provide development in preferred directions, to monitor, and evaluate the process of change and identify the need for remedial and corrective measures. This ensures that everything is looked after and every mistake is corrected. With this it makes a perfect mother for GNH which nurtures it and helps it to grow bigger.
Abraham Lincoln, the 16th President of the United States of America defines Democracy as a government of the people, by the people and for the people. With their choice of government elected, it makes sure that their voice are heard, bringing happiness, hence promoting GNH.
Happiness may not be directly delivered to an individual like a good or service. Democracy stresses collective happiness to be addressed directly through public policies in which happiness becomes a clear condition in projects and programmes.

This is the debate topic given in the school, as a house competition. If you want to add on it, send me an e-mail. I will make sure that it is added.

World Environment Day

0
11:00 PM

World Environment Day ('WED') is celebrated every year on 5th June to raise global awareness of the need to take positive environmental action. It is run by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). Each year, World Environment Day is hosted in a different city with a different theme for one week that kicks off on June 5. A World Environment Day theme is selected along with an Environment Day slogan, which aims to emphasize the importance of protecting our planet and promote an understanding that they each individually can play a significant and effective role in tackling environmental issues.

The theme for this year’s world environment day is ‘‘THINK, EAT, SAVE’’. The extension to this is REDUCE YOUR FOOT PRINT. The theme mainly talks about Anti-food waste and about the growing population of the world. We eat food and the left overs we throw away. That thrown away food could feed a person or two. There is another way to think through this, if we limit our consumption to our needs, it saves money. Let’s think about our future generation. Every grain that you throw away spills blood of a child.
Our school is celebrating the day by cleaning the town in the afternoon.

A CLOUD DRAGON
Do u think dragon really exist? or its just a myth. Some might say it is a myth or it is real.I think they are just myth.I am not an expert on dragons but this is what i believe for the existence for dragons.I cant surely say that they do not exist or they exist.when you don't see air you can't say air doesn't exist same goes for dragons. They are like anime or cartoons that we watch today.I think people made it up to boost their feelings about some things. For example in China dragons are believed to bring good luck and many more.

Perfectly Build Town

0
10:55 PM

Few days ago, the nightmares of people living in Bajo town was coming to reality. When it was raining heavily the “perfectly build town’’ was flooded with rain water mixed with sewage. The people living in the last row have seen these. Kind of amazing that with lots of examples around us we can’t make proper water outlet system.  The water had eroded away the black top on the road and I think no solution for this problem has come out.
